- Although credited as Alan Ayckbourn's 64th play, Orvin - Champion Of Champions was actually written before his 63rd play Sugar Daddies. As it premiered after Sugar Daddies in the Stephen Joseph Theatre's 2003 summer season, it is considered a later play.
- Alan Ayckbourn had previously worked with Denis King on the full length musical Whenever and would also later work with him on Awaking Beauty. They first worked together on the revue Cheap And Cheerful. Denis has also provided incidental music for Alan Ayckbourn's plays and featured as Mr Ames in Alan's 2004 revival of A Chorus Of Disapproval at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough.
- This was Alan Ayckbourn's first collaboration with the National Youth Musical Theatre; it was also the final production of the NYMT in that form as in October 2003, the company was to all intents and purposes closed due to insolvency (funding issues had been raised in 1999 and came to the fore in 2002). The NYMT would be relaunched in 2005 when the company's funding issues had been resolved.
- Orvin - Champions Of Champions was given pride of place in the Stephen Joseph Theatre's summer schedule in 2003. Running for two weeks in The Round from 8 August, running alongside Alan Ayckbourn's other new play of the summer Sugar Daddies.
